Rayong overview

Rayong Travel Guide
The city of Rayong on the Eastern Gulf of Thailand is renowned for being fruity. The lush orchids here yield mountains of tropical fruit, such as mango and the very distinct smelling durian. This knobbly fruit tastes great but smells remarkably like sewage. A whiff of this on a hangover is anything but pleasant. Rayong is also home to some rather nice beaches and once monsoon season is over in late October, the 100kms of coast here gradually fills up with Thais escaping the heat and hustle in Bangkok. Not yet discovered by the hordes of European tourists who pack out the beaches elsewhere in Thailand, Rayong possesses a refreshing and uniquely Thai feel.
