Roi-Et overview

Roi-Et Travel Guide
The town of Roi-Et in the Central Issan area of northeast Thailand is far removed from its once very grand and glamorous days. As the former residence of kings of the Khmer empire, Roi-Et was once home to an extravagant 11 satellite cities and 11 city gates. If you judge a city on its gates you might be disappointed, as time has changed Roi-Et into something almost unrecognisable. That is not to say that the town is without merit, however, as archaeological findings have show that this community has been around since prehistoric times. There are also several archaeological sites left over from the Khmer period, such as Amphoe Suwannaphum and Phra Kona.
