Satun overview

The town of Satun on Thailand’s south Andaman Coast is a popular base for tourists looking to visit the islands of Ko Lipe, Ko Adang, Ko Rawi and Ko Taruntao. The mainly Muslim area has avoided much of the strife seen in similar parts of Thailand and the beautiful forests, mountains and waterfalls make Satun a great place to visit. The food here is a mixture of Thai, Chinese and Malaysian and despite the Muslim population; you can locate a few bars in Satun’s downtown area. There is also a small nightclub in town for those desperate to let their hair down but don’t expect it to be much like Ibiza here. On a typical Friday night you shouldn’t expect to find many more that a couple of melancholy drinkers and some dancing bar girls.
