Sukhothai overview

Sukhothai Travel Guide
The name ‘Sukhothai’ translates to mean ‘Dawn of Happiness’ and the city is the location of the ruins of the ancient city of Sukhothai. Based in Lower Northern Thailand, the city was the Thai capital in the 13th century but is about as far removed from the modern Thai capital of Bangkok as is possible. The Sukhothai Historical Park has been restored well and there are numerous interesting ruins in this UNESCO World Heritage Site. Although the golden age of the city has long since passed, tourists are still expected to give the ruins the respect they deserve, so it’s best not to attempt any ‘leaning tower of Pisa-style’ photographs.
