Ubon Ratchathani overview

Ubon Ratchathani Travel Guide
Ubon Ratchathani in Thailand’s Southern Issan district is often referred to simply as ‘Ubon’. The city sits along the banks of the Mun River and was founded by a group of run-away Lao princes in the 1700s. Ubon was used as an airbase for US planes during the Vietnam War but has been home to little controversy since then. There are a number of nice sleepy suburbs to visit here, however, and the city has a genuine Thai feel about it. You can get all the maps ad information you need at the tourist office in Khuan Thani Road; provided you are an expert in broken English that is.
